Dr. Spurlock was born and raised in Denton, but says “I got to Amarillo as soon as I could”. Dr. Spurlock loves to travel and has traveled the world extensively. Dr. Spurlock is married and has two daughters, Amy in Sante Fe and Molly in Dixon, New Mexico. Two grandchildren, Rayden and Lucian are constant sources of joy.Dr. Spurlock is a founding partner with AFPC and now serves as President of the group. He served as chairman of Family Medicine at NWTH and was a charter member of the Board of Directors of First Care. Dr. Spurlock has served on several committees at BSA Health Systems including secretary of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Stevens and wife, Teresa, have a son, Arthur, and two grandchildren, Aiden and Adeline. Dr. Stevens is a private pilot. Other hobbies are fishing and gardening. Dr. Stevens helped open the Clinic in 1978.

Dr. Caldwell grew up in Mission, Texas and found his way to Amarillo via the Texas Tech residency program. His grandfather was a rural doctor in Wisconsin. His father played professional baseball for 29 years, including 8 years in the major league.
Dr. Caldwell likes all outdoor and sporting activities – and anything historic. He is most proud of his daughter, Lauren, who is now attending the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Caldwell joined the Clinic in 1987.
Dr. Brister was born in Roswell, NM and raised in New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, and California. Before joining AFPC in 1990, Dr. Brister practiced in El Campo, TX and an urgent care clinic in Amarillo. He and his wife, Lydia, have 4 children: Anthony, who lives in Dallas, Emily, who teaches in Amarillo, Michelle, who attends UT, Austin, and Victoria is a student at UT, San Antonio. He enjoys music, outdoor activities, and is fluently bilingual. The Bristers are active in their church, Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Brister served as Chairman of Family Medicine at BSA Hospital in 2004.
Dr. Whelchel was raised on a farm in Claude, TX and wanted to return to the Panhandle to practice medicine. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Pam, and three children - Emily, Amy, and Luke. The Whelchel family are active members at Hillside Christian Church, South Campus. His favorite past times include gospel singing, computers, yard work, and playing and watching sports (especially the Dallas Cowboys).
Dr. Whelchel joined the Clinic in 1996.
Dr. Bravo was a staff physician at Winslow Indian Health Service in his native Arizona before moving to Amarillo. He also practiced at an urgent care clinic in Amarillo before joining AFPC in 1998. Dr. Bravo is married to Tonya and they have three children. Joshua is in active military and Eric is a graduate of University of Arizona. Cassie is the youngest. Dr. Bravo enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and backpacking.
Dr. Tyson is originally from Coleman, TX where he practiced for three years before moving to Amarillo in 2001. He and his wife, Sheri, have six children who keep them very busy. Away from work, Dr. Tyson plays keyboard at at Hillside Christian Church, South Campus and dabbles in song writing. He is also an avid angler and outdoorsman.

Dr. Bryan earned a PhD and worked as a biologist in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico before attending medical school. He is married to Becky and has two children Robin and Ben. Dr. Bryan enjoys running, backpacking, mountaineering, snow skiing, fishing and rock climbing. Dr. Bryan served as Chairman of Family Medicine at Northwest Texas Hospital in 2006 and Chairman of Family Medicine at Baptist St Anthony’s Hospital in 2012.
Dr. Bryan joined the Clinic in 2003.
Dr. Britten is a native of the Texas panhandle from Groom, TX. He is married to Ann and they have five small children, Madeline, Andrew and Isabel Bridget, and Patrick. He enjoys fishing and hunting and is an avid sports fan – his team is Notre Dame.
Dr. Britten joined AFPC in 2007.
Dr. Malone joined the AFPC family in 2008. He grew up in Amarillo and enjoys practicing in his hometown. Dr. Malone and wife, Christy, and son, Benjamin, are active in their church and enjoy time with their families.

Dr. Allman grew up in Dalhart and returns to the panhandle with her husband, who is also a physician, and children Jack and Britta. Dr. Allman practiced at a Family Practice Clinic in Fort Worth before moving to Amarillo. Balancing a medical practice and two children consumes most of her life but she also enjoys reading and traveling.
Dr. Allman joined the Clinic in 2011.

Dr. Leake grew up in Amarillo attending Amarillo High School and Amarillo College. She wanted to return to her hometown to practice and be near her family. She attends Hillside Christian Church, West Campus, and is a member of Faithbuilders.
She enjoys going to estate sales and antiquing for mid-century modern finds. She also enjoys spinning classes, spending time with her Welsh Corgi, and having Saturday morning coffee with her extended family.
Dr. Leake joined the Clinic in 2012.
Denise Branson was a small town girl form Anadarko, OK before she migrated west to Texas. Denise and husband, Todd, really enjoy the Amarillo area. Her hobbies include shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. Her biggest joy is watching her daughters Makenna and Morgen grow and explore the world.
Denise has practiced at AFPC since 2005.
