Body Composition Analysis

DEXA body composition scanning for precise measurement of body fat, lean muscle mass, visceral fat, and symmetry.

Beyond bone density, our DEXA scanner provides a detailed body composition analysis that goes far beyond what a scale or BMI calculation can tell you. The scan precisely measures your total body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, and bone mineral content — broken down by region so you can see exactly where fat and muscle are distributed throughout your body. It also measures visceral adipose tissue (the dangerous fat surrounding your internal organs linked to heart disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome) versus subcutaneous fat stored under the skin. The symmetry analysis compares muscle and fat distribution between your left and right sides, which is valuable for injury rehabilitation, athletic performance, and identifying imbalances. The entire scan takes about 6 to 10 minutes with minimal radiation exposure. All body composition scans are supervised by Chuck Vagrosky, a registered and licensed imaging specialist with over 30 years of experience (RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT).

What Your DEXA Scan Measures

  • Total body fat percentage — far more accurate than BMI, calipers, or bioimpedance scales (±1–2% margin of error)
  • Lean muscle mass measurement — tracks muscle gain or loss with precision
  • Regional breakdown — see fat and muscle distribution in arms, legs, and trunk individually
  • Visceral fat analysis — measures dangerous fat around internal organs linked to heart disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome
  • Subcutaneous fat measurement — exterior fat stored under the skin
  • Left-to-right symmetry analysis — compares muscle and fat between limbs to detect imbalances useful for rehabilitation and athletic training
  • Android-to-gynoid ratio — compares belly fat to hip fat for metabolic risk assessment
  • Bone mineral density included — every scan also measures skeletal strength
  • Quick 6–10 minute scan with extremely low radiation exposure
  • Ideal for weight management, fitness tracking, post-surgery recovery, and metabolic health monitoring
  • Supervised by Chuck Vagrosky — RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT with over 30 years of experience
